The cabin is very comfortable and modern, nice kitchenette. The bathroom was huge and brand new. Nice place to stay, nice walks in the area, and very calm compared to more touristic places. The staff was friendly. The restaurant is nice but expensive

Perfectly situated in a small town with a working fishing industry. Excellent view’s from all windows. Our cabin on the hill was clean, modern and functional. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Breakfast good and dinner not to be missed. As we had to leave early on our last day the staff packed us a hearty breakfast for the road.

This is a nice, new place in a great location as basecamp for Lofoten daily trips. Supermarkets are within 15 minues easy drive. Beautiful location with great views from the decks.

The view was fantastic! Really incredible and this is the one thing that would have us return here. We spent alot of time upstairs watching the weather roll in. Too wild to go on the balcony but the view upstairs and downstairs was the best we've ever experienced.
The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped. Upstairs toilet was good to have. Couches were comfortable and the apartment was very spacious with 2 living areas upstairs and downstairs. 3 bedrooms, with double beds and one bedroom had 2 double beds. 2 bedrooms upstairs.
It was nice and cosy and warm with plenty of heaters and heated floors in the entry way and bathroom. Washing machine was appreciated and the bathroom was really updated and modern.
Good privacy from other apartments.

The kitchen was so well stocked with everything you would need to cook.
The view from both downstairs and upstairs was breathtaking, especially from the upstairs windows. We saw northern lights from this window.
The Sauna was great.
We had a very comfortable stay here.

There's not a lot to do in Ballstad plus I felt the view from the lodge was just okay. It is on the water but overlooks a cod fishing plant which is authentic but there are other towns whereby the view is in a fjord and much nicer to look out to. Ballstad is convenient as it is a good midway point for the Lofoten Islands but I would recommend other towns to stay in for views and shops and cafes.AAnonymousCanada - 6.0Scored 6.0

Very small town with limited hotel and dining options. You visit Norway for the scenery but driving into Ballstad was one of the least scenic roads we were on. No compelling reason too visit or stay.

Ballstad is a beuatifull fishing village with mighty peaks...
Ballstad is a beuatifull fishing village with mighty peaks just behind the rorbu houses. There are many locations that are truly inspiring for photographers. I am glad I visited this village, it is on par with Henningsvear or Nusfjord in my opinon.

The shops are far from the hostel (40 min by walking) and not so alive. But if you come to rest and to do small hikes it's great. Easy to reach Leknes (15 min by car) or Reine if you have a car. Not so many busses.ClaraNorway - 10Scored 10

So staying at Ballstad makes more sense that staying at Reine because if you stay at Reine you wouldn't wanna come out of the town towards Svolvaer and in that case you will miss out all the beautiful places in between. Whereas when staying at Ballstad, you will be driving down and returning from the A & Reine and can stop at all the places in between twice. Places like Ramberg, Uttakleiv, Haukland, Hanmoy and gorgeous and would wanna pass through them and stop there as much as one can.RishitIndia

I loved all the heated floors and the wonderful fjord views. Towels were clean. Parking was easy. Kitchen was well equipped. We could see Northern lights near the balcony. i like the cozy 2nd floor cozy living room with look through glasses. Highly recommended though the cabin is a bit difficult to find. But with GPS, its not a big issues. Owner was very helpful with all my queries and answered me very timely.

Since we were the only guests at that time, we got an upgrade to a very nice room with balcony (where we were able to watch Northern Lights from bed!). This was already at the beginning of the stay very attentive from the hosts. The whole living area is really nice, the kitchen is quite big and offers everything we needed. We were also able to use the sauna, which was really nice :) We can just imagine that staying here in summer would be magnifique as well! Thanks a lot for a lovely time!

Ian the manager is incredibly friendly, helpful, and passionate about this accomodation, which is essentially a labour of love on his part. Very sociable and cozy atmosphere in an authentic rorbuer, with lots of little touches. Ballstad is also very well located. I hired a bike from the rental store nearby and used it to explore around the Lofoten. Highly recommend for any trip to the Lofoten Islands.DarrynUnited Kingdom

Our server at the restaurant was friendly and helpful. The location is nice, there is a Joker very close and a nice little cafe. They allow you to use the washer (no dryer available ). Loved the provided soap/shampoo/conditioner. Close to the airport. Ballstad has really nice trails.
